Gerard Doherty

All of the artworks you see lining the walls of Georges have been painted by local artist Gerard Doherty. The paintings at Georges are from his popular "Red Hill" and "Peninsula" series and are all available for purchase. Gerard was born in Belfast Ireland as the youngest of twelve children. Gerard recalls his interest in art started in primary school where simply filling a page with colour started his life long passion of painting.

As a young adult Gerard left Ireland to travel and then immigrated to Australia in the late 1980’s. As he pursued his career and life in his adopted country, art was rediscovered through his travels across intriguing and beautiful backdrops of the diverse and light filled Australian sea and landscapes. One of the many things Gerard likes about this country is the abundance of colour all wrapped together – this sentiment is clearly relayed in his work.
